A.C. Cool joins Chow Mane for the release of their latest single, “BETTY WHITE.” Featuring strong lyricism and a compelling beat, “BETTY WHITE” is a representation of the versatility of A.C. Cool’s evolving trap sound and style; it is also a celebration of his rich experiences in the Bay Area.
“BETTY WHITE” serves as the first track on A.C. Cool’s upcoming project, “BIG COOL.”
“My upcoming project, “BIG COOL,” is me diving into big records—songs with many trap elements, heavy 808s, auto-tuned sounds and melodies—but of course still being true to me. “BETTY WHITE” is special to me because it’s the most California song I have. When I heard the beat—produced by Strizzy, from LA—within the first few seconds I knew that it was what I wanted; I knew it would be my first single for the project, and that I'd do a video. I had been trying to find the right sound that felt Bay Area/Cali-ish, but also still organic to me. When it comes to beat selection, you just know when you've found the one. Instantly, I began to write and freestyle,” shares A.C. Cool.
Seeking that extra Bay Area flavor for “BETTY WHITE,” A.C. Cool brought Chow Mane on the track, which helped take things to a whole other level.
“I knew I wanted Bay Area artist, Chow Mane, to feature on it because he embodies the Bay so well and I'm a big fan of his work. The song is special to me because I moved to the Bay from MA, and I really got deep into what makes their music so bouncy, special and sacred. I wouldn't say this is a Bay Area song necessarily, but it does give you CA summer vibes, which is what we wanted to do. In regard to the concept, the cover art says it all, in addition to the lyrics: I got my Air Force Ones, I keep 'em BETTY WHITE! The song is about being fresh and clean and having fun.”
Originally from Lowell, Massachusetts, rap artist, A.C. Cool, has been dedicated to creating music and performing for the past nine years. His introspective lyrical style can be attributed to artists like Lupe Fiasco, Wale, Mac Miller and J. Cole—all of whom he considers to be his greatest musical influences. He currently resides in the heart of the Bay Area, in Oakland, California, where he became inspired by legendary rappers, Too $hort and E-40, and by established younger artists, Kehlani and G-Eazy as well. A.C. Cool has also opened up for many notable acts, including Kid Ink and Kamaiyah.
Looking ahead, A.C. Cool will be releasing his exciting new project, “BIG COOL,” and will also be releasing the music video for “BETTY WHITE,” so stay tuned!
