Paris Price - a rising rap artist out of the DMV area - has brought his music career to new heights in just a few years and he’s here to share just what he’s learned. Price describes rap like a sport and his competitive nature feeds his hunger for doing what he loves: reaching his fans with passionate music. Stream his latest hit single: ‘Jungle’ streaming everywhere today!
Price is certainly no stranger to the limelight either. Let’s backtrack to November 15th, 2019 where Price’s talent has taken him to the heights of opening up for rap legends Schoolboy Q and NAV at ECHOSTAGE in DC, the #1 club in the USA & #2 in the world (DJ MAG) - cementing his spot as one of DMV’s top rap artists as the year came to a close. Having drawn thousands of additional fans to his journey from that moment, he is shaping up to repeat in 2020 with closing out the year with something even more special this August. It’s a true testament to his hard work & dedication to his music career over the past few months which has allowed him to climb past those sleeping during this pandemic.
“If I lose, then I want revenge. You cant win if you on the bench. You still missed if you off an inch.” - Paris Price
We hear melodic and soulful grooves on tracks like “Where Have You Been” and “Insomnia,” jazz inspired melodies featured on “Mere Mortals,” and high energy bangers like his latest release, “Jungle.”
His dream dream project would feature artists including J Cole, Isaiah Rashad, Nas, 2Pac, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar - all fellow lyrical, melodic, and musical geniuses. Paris Price is a true lyrical acrobat looking to take his place with the greats.
So how far has Paris Price come in his career to date? I asked him and he shared “2 years ago I was just starting to take my music career seriously. I was starting to release music and wanted to do it full time.” Curious as to what he would tell himself back just a couple of years ago with what he knows today and he replied, “Rome wasn’t built in a day so be patient. Even if it’s a fan a day that’s still 365 loyal fans gained in a year.” His artist career wasn’t built in a day either. He’s heading in the right direction surpassing 170,000 monthly streamers on Spotify.
But how did Paris Price climb the ladder so quickly in the most competitive genre in the music industry? He has no shame sharing his secrets. Price simply cracked the code and continuously wants to help others with his knowledge. It’s in his good nature to give back to his fans and those artists who look up to him with what his experience to date. Price mentioned, “I would say it would be developing a rapport with the right curators from working with them over time and eventually having them offering me free placement on playlists because they genuinely like my music. May not sound like a major deal to someone who isn’t an artist, but if you’re an artist you understand how major that is.”
But with experience comes failures, lessons learned, and a multitude of successes later on. Price holds his head high and just laughs at his mistakes back in his early days.
I asked Price what his worst business deal was and he told me “I had this guy hit me up when I first started rapping. He did dances on his youtube channel to popular songs. He pretty much scammed me out of $500 and never hit me back. I was just so eager for a chance to get my music heard I wasn’t truly thinking.”
But how did he know he was on the right path anyway with so much information and influence pulling you around in the industry? He stated, “Whenever things started happening that were out of my control it just felt like the door was open and it was my choice to walk through it.” We can see that in action on his Friday Fire Cypher featured on SWAY IN THE MORNING.
We’ve all been there; eyes wide, visions of success flashing before our eyes, and a fresh paycheck sitting in your bank account ready to blow up your latest release on their first release. But more often than not, fans and other struggling independent artists don’t seem to realize that those artists on the come up had their challenges, roadblocks, and plenty of bad deals before turning profit. It also is important to understand what it means to make lucrative and business savvy decisions. Each decision has more gravity to it the further you go along in your career.
You may not have heard of Paris Price before reading this interview, but I can promise you one thing and that is you’ll definitely hear his name again on a much bigger screen from much bigger people than us here at Exclusive Audio.
We asked Paris Price what his lifelong fans and new fans should be excited for coming up from his team and he said August or September is going to be HUGE featuring the release of a single leading into his biggest project yet with “big features” that even EA couldn’t know about yet! Follow Paris to stay tuned on those features, his next project, and on his next tour by following him on his socials below.

Q - What motivates you to wake up and do what you do daily?
A - Well sometimes I’m not as motivated because im getting up for work. But what gives me my drive is just wanting to be the best I can be, not wasting time, and getting better everyday.
Q - At what moment did you finally start to feel like you were on the right path?
A - Whenever things started happening that were out of my control it just felt like the door was open and it was my choice to walk through it.
Q - How has the insane, unprecedented times of our nation's history in 2020 impacted your career moves and what have you had to do to continue growing as an artist and brand?
A - Its definitely opened up my mind to find ways to be more creative with content and being able to reach my fans. Its a lot easier when you can perform, and be active but when you can’t go anywhere you have to find ways to still stay relevant. It was challenging at first but its slowly becoming the norm for now.
Q - Best advice you've ever received?
A - From Michael Jordan on the Last Dance documentary. He said, “Why would I think about missing a shot I haven’t taken yet.”
The fear of the unknown is what really holds people back so that meant a lot.
