Lebanese singer-songwriter Maro drops his latest single, ‘Heart to Spare.’ The melodic track follows Maro’s debut ‘Carsick,’ along with his single ‘Take it Back’—which premiered earlier this year, on PAPERMAG. 

For his latest single, Maro teamed up with famed producer Jared Schraff. “Jared’s sound was exactly what I was looking for for this song and I was stoked when he loved it enough to take it on,” shares Maro. 

Schraff has produced multiple successes from celebrated artists, including: Kirk, by DaBaby; A Love Letter to You 4, by Trippie Redd; Tickets to My Downfall, by Machine Gun Kelly; My Turn, by Lil Baby. He is also responsible for massive hit singles, ‘Tommy Lee,’ by Tyla Yaweh & Post Malone and ‘Gone Girl,’ by Iann Dior—the latter of which, has been streamed on Spotify over 181 million times. 

An ode to love and heartbreak, ‘Heart to Spare’ is both poignant and relatable. Maro’s laid-back tone drifts above an addictive chorus and sweet pop melody with ease. 

“In the moment I was writing ‘Heart to Spare’, I wanted to describe the feeling of not wanting to catch feelings again with the same girl, but every time I’m close to moving on she just hops right back into my life (‘then you walked into the room’).  And since I haven’t fully moved on, it’s hard to fight it. So, in the pre-chorus I’m telling her, ‘you left me lonely last time and broke my heart, so I don’t have another heart to spare.’ It’s like one of those video games where you have 3 hearts and if you end up losing them all you’ll have to restart from the beginning, and I don’t wanna get to that, ha-ha.” - Maro

Since receiving massive praise for his cover of Lil Peep and XXXTENTACION’s ‘Falling Down’ back in 2018, Maro’s following has no doubt grown. He’s gotten over 28 million views on YouTube—all within in the last year! 

The talented 20-year-old knows what it takes to become a serious self-starter. He began playing the piano in the second grade; by the time he turned 15, he was writing his own songs. He is fluent in four languages, including: French, Arabic, Russian, and English; he can also sing in seven languages, including: Turkish, Italian and Spanish. 

Born in poverty-stricken Beirut, amidst war-stricken Lebanon, Maro was forced to relocate several times during his childhood. His constant through the chaos has always been music. “Moving and traveling around during my early teenage years made me feel lonely, and once I started to write songs and be creative, it became the perfect outlet for my emotions,” shares Maro. 

Having a multicultural background has also been conducive to Maro’s artistry. “My parents’ taste in music has really contributed to my sound as an artist in terms of deriving inspiration from Lebanese and Ukrainian culture,” he explains. 

The future looks bright for Maro, and his creative vision is well-defined. He plans to continue making sonically distinct and authentic music. He states, “I want to have something that fans hear and immediately know, this is Maro...The music is raw and emotional, and I just want people to find it real.”
