Genre aka Jesse Getchell (@genre_getch), a hip hop artist with raw lyricism and authentic vocals, releases his second track to date “If I Lose Myself ” in anticipation for his upcoming album. Stream ‘If I Lose Myself’ on Spotify today here!

A quick listen to the song and you are already feeling some deep meaning within the lyrics, but even though Jesse is just getting started, I know that the best is yet to come. The upcoming album “Neurotic” is set to release in the near future. By many standards, “Genre” will have a more complete discography after the album drop. As we see it developing right now, stay tuned to hear what he has in store for us with his upcoming releases.

Some of his inspirations include Lil Wayne, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, The Game, Joey Badass, Kanye West, Mac Miller, Schoolboy Q, and Drake. He told us that he made it his goal to “study and appreciate artists who can paint pictures and bring stories to life. I get inspired when an artist is not afraid to be creative and try new things.”

Having only two singles out, it’s unclear to new fans where his inspiration lies are behind this album and musical projects. All we know is that Genre is on the grind and his releases are bound to improve in quality with enhanced vocals and production down the road and we can’t wait for it either. He told us “I’ve been wanting to create a project for years. Those who have finished school or are in the process are conditioned to believe you can only do one thing and that’s focus on your career which is fine except if you are an artist. I decided I wanted to do both, in order to feel like my true self.” And while Genre finds himself occasionally in scrubs at the hospital, he’s got the drive to push his artistry to the next level, something that will eventually separate him from the rest of the pack.
