Francis Karel releases his latest single, “I Don’t Like How Much I Like You.” Featuring velvety vocals and an upbeat melody, the modern pop anthem details the explosive emotions that can arise after catching feelings for someone when you least expect it.
“I’m not usually one to catch feelings for another, so it really catches me off guard when I end up feeling for someone. It puts me in a place of confusion and frustration, and although it can be a nice feeling, sometimes I wish I didn’t have to feel any of it," shares Karel.
Originally from Jakarta, Indonesia, Karel began studying elements of pop radio hits at a young age—penning his first song when he was 12 years old. As he got older, his obsession with pop music further fueled his desire to become an artist.
One day, as luck would have it, he accidentally spilled coffee in front of a top record executive, while working backstage at an Indonesian music festival. Although it began as an awkward introduction, the pair ended up hitting it off. Before he knew it, Karel was saying farewell to his home and loved ones, and traveling halfway around the world to America—where his exciting new musical career would soon begin to flourish.
During the pandemic, the humble artist began sharing numerous Omegle reaction videos—in which he brings unsuspecting strangers to tears with his extraordinary vocal talent and soulful guitar. Recorded at home in isolation, Karel’s unrehearsed, spontaneous performances spread like wildfire across the internet—garnering him over 2.2 million followers on TikTok and eminent Instagram fans like Meghan Trainor, Zedd, Tori Kelly and BeBe Rexha.
Karel’s viral success has contributed to various iconic experiences in his early career, including his debut show opening for MAX at the historic Fonda Theater in Los Angeles, and a duet of his song “You’re Too Close” with Tori Kelly—which now has 5.2 million streams on Spotify.
Karel currently resides in Los Angeles, where he is determined to further expand his viral success through his debut studio recordings. With sounds reminiscent of Bruno Mars, BTS, Ed Sheeran and Jon Bellion, Karel’s honest lyricism and vocal aptitude are sure to propel him to stardom as he continues his mission of bringing joy to people one song at a time.
Looking ahead, Fans of Karel can expect more amazing music from the burgeoning artist, as he is scheduled to release his debut album in 2022.
