Co-written with Mischa Mandel-Giegerich and Steve Rusch, Ellee shares - “While writing “LINGER,” I channeled a lot of hard things I’ve been through. The first was a very ugly, heartbreaking falling out with one of my closest friends and being excluded and bullied for years. The other was challenges I’ve gone through in the music industry with different people telling me I’m not good enough, or I’ll never make it, and having to constantly get back up after different rejections and hardships and keep going .
As tough as many of these situations have been and still are, they all pushed me to breaking points and in turn made me realize that the key to surviving life’s hardest moments is learning how to bend. Because if you learn how to bend, you will never break. It made me realize how strong and resilient I actually am as a human, a woman, and an artist. Even though none of us are bulletproof, I wanted this song to be almost a mock at the bullies, the haters, or the hardest things of life saying, ‘Cool bro, bring it on. There’s nothing I can’t handle. No matter what I’ll always get back up swinging.’ I think people need this song right now to remind them of their power and to keep fighting no matter what they’ve been through. I wanted the production to match the energy which is why Nate Pyfer and I took it in a much more intense direction. We wanted to make it a bit uncomfortable, a bit bad ass, and a whole lot of ‘you can’t ignore this one.’”
