Hailing from Cork, Ireland, Eiza Murphy drops her latest single, ‘Bat and Ball’—produced by Jay Nebula and her sister, Lenii. 

‘Bat and Ball’ explores concepts of control, misogyny and dominance in a relationship. The seductive track features haunting, emotion-filled vocals that flow seamlessly against echoing melodies. Inspired by artists such as Lana Del Rey and Jessie Reyez, Murphy’s distinctive sound and storytelling style of writing are deeply rooted in her Irish ancestry.

Speaking on her motivation for writing the track, Murphy shares, “I think in every relationship (not just romantic) there’s a power play going on. One person always seems to be more in control, even if it’s barely noticeable. I played with the idea of dominance being shared in ‘Bat and Ball,’ because I think it should be.”

At age 15, Murphy relocated to New York to study Logic Pro music production, at Dubspot School of Electronic Music. In a class comprised of 20 students, she was the only female and was the youngest by 15 years. In 2017, she moved to London, where she performed in venues such as Tobacco Dock, Battersea Evolution, and the London National Film Theatre. 

Murphy’s debut singles, ‘Black Hole’ and ‘Taxi,’ both charted at #1 on iTunes Ireland. Her songs have also appeared on Ireland’s top radio station, RTE 2FM, with ‘Black Hole’ making its way to ‘Track of the Week.’

The 21-year-old artist continues to break barriers of sound and style and will be dropping more innovative pop music; so, stay tuned!
