Erin ‘CONST’ Constantine (@erinconstantine) aka ‘The DJ Girl’ is known for DJing every type of event from private parties to packed clubs. Her passion for high energy, big room and house electronic dance music as well as creating electrifying performances is what has allowed her progress to where she is in her music career today! Today she joins us for an exclusive interview.
You might find this funny, but even as a DJ, CONST’s biggest musical inspiration is Ariana Grande! She’s been a huge fan since 2013 from right at the start of her music career. CONST has watched her grow into this huge international artist and she loves the way she handles herself in the music industry. This is exactly what CONST aspires to! “She was also the reason why I became a DJ in the first place,” CONST shared. “I started making mashups of her songs and then from there I realized this was what DJing basically was, and immediately started building my brand.” It’s also worth mentioning her dream collab would be with Ariana Grande or Tiesto!
We asked CONST what gets her up in the morning full of energy to do what she loves and she said “Right now, it’s my livestreams. Since we are still in a pandemic, the world of a DJing has completely flipped. Back in April, I started these streams on Tik Tok called ‘Club Quarantine’ and it was only one day a week. Now I’m doing them 4 nights a week. As a DJ, performing is my favorite thing about the job and because of the pandemic that was taken away from me. I’m so grateful for these streams because they give me an outlet to perform and connect with my fans all around the world.” Rather than being suppressed as a performing DJ, she took the opportunity to innovate in a fairly unchanged industry for the last 30 years. She paved the way for livestreaming DJs to come and she will certainly be remembered for her efforts on the forefront of livestreaming her live sets.
But we’ve all been in that place where we just aren’t sure if we are on the right path. We ask ourselves do we want to work in music? Do we want to be artists? Is it all worth it? But then there is that one event where we know that we are on the right path professionally. For CONST, it was the moment her Tik Tok career took off. That truly helped her branch out and expand her fanbase. Without Tik Tok, I would be at the level of success she was a year ago. She came to realize in the day in age social media is such a crucial part of an artists career.

CONST had to adapt to quarantine just like all other performing DJs. With gigs being booked left and right, CONST was on track to a BOOMING 2020 before COVID. We asked how she had to adapt and she shared “The pandemic pretty much slowed down everything in my path. To keep moving forward I knew I had to adapt. The live streams are the perfect outlet. I love how intimate they are and getting to interact with my fans! Now don’t get me wrong I would LOVE to perform live, but with what’s going on I will take this as a close second. Besides the streams, I’ve also been trying to build all my socials and trying to get my fans engaged on all platforms. I just started to dabble in Twitch as well, so we will see how that goes.”
Every successful artist has a noteworthy bit of advice that stood out to them over the years of grinding. For CONST it was that she started living an “it is what it is” lifestyle. “You just got to go with the flow, take things as they are and not be too serious. During my career I’ve realized a lot of the cool things that have happened, just happened. And if I seek for it won’t. Not saying I haven’t manifested, but I feel like when you don’t seek validation or anyones approval it will come and it comes out of nowhere.”
So what would CONST tell herself from two years ago on the cusp of an amazing DJ career? “I think I would tell myself just keep doing you, because without those moments 2 years ago up to now, I wouldn’t be here in my career today.” To those up and coming artists, the lesson here is be yourself rather than a product of yourself. Erin did exactly that and found herself doing what she does every single day. Take notes!
