Los Angeles, CA — Chinese-Canadian EDM duo, Alex Kade, debut vibrant live performance on “TD Music Connected Series” — a showcase for Canadian Chinese, South Asian, Black, Indigenous and Francophone artists. Stream “Alex Kade: TD Music Connected Series” today on YouTube, here!
Alex Kade deliver a stellar performance on “TD Music Connected Series”—a series sponsored by TD bank: showcasing Chinese, South Asian, Black, Indigenous and Francophone artists, in personally significant and culturally diverse locations throughout Canada.
Shot in Markham, Ontario, at New Kennedy Square, Alex Kade reveal their collective creative genius as they effortlessly weave together hip-hop, trap, dubstep, future bass and more, during the first 15 minutes of their pulsating 30-minute performance.
As the set starts off, Alex Kade’s DJ brings the energy with some seriously slick vinyl scratching. Feeding off of her enthusiasm, the group’s drummer takes the experience to another level with explosive strikes. Throughout the mix, the duo’s chemistry is tangible, as they flow back and forth with one another, perfectly synced.
While playing their next few songs, Alex Kade maintain their vigor, performing live renditions of their popular remixes: Emily Vu’s “WEEKEND” and Cayley Spivey’s “Cross The Line”—which includes a riveting performance from vocalist, Shirsha Chakraborty, and guitarist, Mario Posella.
The last song of their set, a cover of F.N.’s “Mother Tongue,” is a fitting finale for the series, as it describes intense feelings associated with rejecting ones cultural roots, and the effects it can have on families. Featuring passionate vocals by Chakraborty, ILLENIUM-esque drops, and a driving force of sound generated by the live drums and guitar, “Mother Tongue” hits home for anyone that’s never felt proud to be different, until now.
Alex Kade is a rising EDM duo, consisting of DJ and producer, DR3A, and drummer and producer, Kade. The talented twosome are from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and they are determined to bring a fresh perspective to the current dubstep, trap, and EDM scene.
“We're not okay with DJs just chilling behind the board at multi-million dollar festivals," says Kade. "We're going to change that.”
Although Alex Kade made their debut in July of 2020, during the pandemic, they have already established a reputation among the EDM, TikTok, and anime communities. Their videos remixing anime openings into EDM have garnered over 2.2 million views, and their exceptional work ethic and sound have led to official remixes with renowned influencers and artists, including: Emily Vu, Cayley Spivey, Nodis, and Double A-Ron.
Looking ahead, the final song from Alex Kade’s live set, “Mother Tongue,” will be released on all streaming platforms on November 19th, 2021.
